José Infante
Senior Consultant
José Infante brings over 50 years of management and finance experience to his role at Cherette Group where he advises on operations, staffing, and financing activities.
He recently served as Senior Vice President and Senior Lender for Independent Bank’s West Michigan region. In addition to management, José’s experience encompasses all areas of banking, including retail, commercial and consumer lending, trust and investment banking. In 1998, José founded Community Shores Bank and served at its President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. Prior to that role, he led FMB-Lumberman’s Bank as its president and CEO.
José is a Grand Valley State Foundation board member and serves on the university’s investment committee. Previously, he was a trustee of GVSU for eight years. He is the finance chair and a board member of Trinity Health. He is president of the board for the Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan. He serves on the Boy Scouts of America Gerald R. Ford Council, on the Board of Regents of the Van Andel Institute, and on several nonprofit committees. He previously served on the boards of Muskegon General Hospital, Mercy Health Partners, the Urban League of Muskegon, the Muskegon Museum of Art, and the Spectrum Hospital Foundation Board.
José earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and graduated from the University of Virginia’s Banking School. He was the 2005 recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. He was also awarded the Distinguished Person of the Year Award in 2004 by the students and faculty at GVSU.
